The asynchronous motor with vector control can achieve the mechanical property close to the DC drive system and a wide speed range, but the control is more complex and has a strong dependence on the motor parameters. Compared with the asynchronous motor, the permanent magnet synchronous motor has the following advantages:
1. Because there is no squirrel cage rotor, the rare earth permanent magnet synchronous motor has lower inertia than the asynchronous motor, and has fast response when the motor torque is fixed.
2. Permanent magnet synchronous motor uses permanent magnet instead of electric excitation, and there is no excitation loss. Because the stator and rotor are synchronous, and the rotor core has no loss, the efficiency of permanent magnet synchronous motor is higher than that of electric excitation synchronous motor and asynchronous motor.
3. Compared with asynchronous motor, rare earth permanent magnet synchronous motor is much smaller in size and higher in power density.
4. Synchronous motor is simpler and more reliable than asynchronous motor.
