When designing the tramcar, how to preliminarily calculate the size of the required traction parts?

1. The maximum load that can be borne is measured according to the actual test;

2. According to the measured breaking load, the empirical formula is used to determine the proportional relationship between the dimensions of each part. Under the condition of meeting the specified safety factor, the simple strength calculation formula and the rated limit stress under safe working load are used as the basis for calculation. The value of this stress is not simply equal to the tensile strength of the material divided by the safety factor.

3. The required size shall be calculated by a method that is close to the actual service conditions. Although the traction parts change greatly from the original calculation conditions when breaking, and the results inevitably have considerable errors, if the selected calculation method can be closer to the actual situation, it is also allowed to be used as a preliminary calculation. Of course, the ultimate bearing capacity can only be determined through actual tests.
